FAQ

-WHAT ARE YOUR RETURN POLICY?

Because kits are presented differently than regular statues, PrototypeZ Studio will handle each return on a case by case basis. Sometimes, it will be easier for our company to replace broken parts rather than replacing the entire statue. We do stand by our product 100% and aim to please our fans with excellent customer service so be assured that your investment will be well protected.

-WILL YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

Kits from our Original Series are available worldwide. Street Fighter Licensed kits are sold only within the U.S. For international buyers, PrototypeZ Studios is working on setting up partnerships with online retailers where these kits will be available for purchase. Contact us for more info.

-WHAT IS A KIT?

The model kits produced by PrototypeZ studios are first generation resin castings, which are the same quality as prototypes provided to companies. They are made with extremely durable resin and are far less fragile than polystone. They are produced in several parts and some assembly will be required. Prototypes of this very quality are used to produce the paint-master. Also the another first generation cast is used to be mass produced, this is called the “Tool Master” .

The “tool master” is then molded at the factory level to create second generation and even third generation casts. Once the actual product makes it into your hands you are not getting a first generation sculpture but a 2nd or even 3rd generation product, which in turn has lost plenty of its original intended detail.

Only PrototypeZ studios bring fully licensed 1st generation prototypes that make it to the hands of the collector.

-What is a PrototypeZ kit made of?

These are not 3rd or 4th generation castings made of Polystone which is basically Polyester resin and filler powder (Calcite stone) which is the preferred material for production because its more cost effective. But for limited production we are going with resin used for prototyping, Polyurethane, which is far more expensive. These kits are not rotocasted and contain no fillers making them heavy and extremely durable. All parts will be made up of 100% pure urethane resin.

-WHAT ARE REQUIRED TO BUILD A PROTOTYPEZ KIT?

Our Studio’s goal is to make kit building fun and beginner-friendly while enjoying the highest quality product in the market. The kits will require some cleaning with sandpaper and parts will need to be glued in place. Parts of each statue are designed with “male” and “female” ends  (or keys) for better fitting and more accurate placement. Minor puttying will also be needed to hide any seams that might appear with parts are fitted together. Our kits are casted in grey resin and are made to display beautifully as an unpainted statue (similar to feature animation maquettes). For painting, the statue will have to be primed but the interpretation is left completely to the collector to create a one-of-a-kind product.

-WHAT MATERIALS DO I NEED BEFORE STARTING A KIT BUILD-UP?

adhesive – superglue or epoxyglue

sandpaper – different grits

putty/filler – magic sculpt, Aves, plumber’s putty

hobby knife

-AFTER I BUILT MY KIT, CAN I REPACKAGE IT WITH THE PRODUCT BOX?

Unfortunately when a kit is built, all the parts are glued and putty is already replied making it hard to take apart. But because these are more solid and durable than mainstream statues, repackaging with other inserts like foam, bubble wrap will be more than adequate.

-Can order my kit assembled and painted?

Street Fighter products can only be sold as Resin model kits. Prototypez Studio can refer your kit to our in-house painter or you can choose from painters in the “Painter for Hire” section in the links page.

-If I choose to have it painted, what steps do I take?

After the checkout process, you can contact us at here and request for paint services. You will receive an e-mail from us with further instructions. Paint service is a private commision and we will put you in contact with our painter to discuss the project in greater detail. If the paint is requested, then we will ship your kit directly to the painter. The painted statue will be sent from the painter directly to you.

-Any idea on what a painted and assembled service will cost?

The only rate we can provide you is that of our painter, as others might charge more or less. Paint services range between $200-400 depending on the complexity of the project and details. Your kit is fully customizable, so you, as a private commissioner have complete freedom of choice. The painter will invoice you separately for the paint service and exact shipping charges will be added to have it delivered from the painters studio to your location.

-How will the painter ship the painted statue?

This is left to the painter to decide the proper packing method for shipping the painted statue. We will remind your painter of choice, to break down the original kit box and send it along with the statue as that box contains your edition number as well and will maintain collectibility of the statue.

-HOW DO I KNOW IF MY KIT IS ORIGINAL?

Since our kits are prototypes, we do recognize the possibility of recasting. As a precaution, the base of each kit will be embedded with their edition number. Our kits are very limited so edition size will be strictly enforced and regulated. These will not be open-editions. In addition, any recasting will result in legal ramifications both by the licensor and PrototypeZ Studio. We will aggresively pursue those suspected in recasts as our company does have the legal rights to both the original products and the design/sculpt of licensed products.

-WHERE ARE THE KITS PRODUCED?

Everything from the designs to the sculpture, molding, casting, packaging is 100% proudly produced in the U.S.A.
